Hamel Interests and Private Equity’s holding period will typically range between three to seven years from their initial purchase or development stabilization date. Our holding period may stretch well beyond ten years, for the benefit of operational efficiencies or enterprise synergies.A cornerstone of our investment strategy is that key management share in the success of the company. We consider equity and compensation incentives to management, top sales reps and key executives, to commensurate their high yield contributions to the business.
Hamel Interests & Private Equity is interested in one of three stages of a company’s life-cycle: i) growth, ii) maturity, and/or iii) “partial” decline. These stages often require growth capital (recapitalization) or can provide complete buy- outs of mature businesses. We are not an angel investor or venture capital firm with an interest in startup phase businesses.
- Structure: Majority interests in small to mid-sized businesses, recapitalizations, de-leveraging and joint-ventures
- Process: Identification, valuation, due-diligence, McKinsey 7-S modeling, CDM modeling, capital structure (debt vs. equity), and exit strategies
- Operations: Cost controls, performance benchmarking, employee stock ownership plans (4-5 year vestment),enterprise synergies, efficiencies, alignments, and developing high-performance teams
Hamel Interests is structured as a private investment company with varying ownership interests in income producing real estate, energy exploration, a digital marketing agency (HIPE, LLC), and ownership interests of select publically held companies. Our real estate holdings extend as far as Colorado; however, our immediate geographical interests are specific to Shreveport-Bossier and East Texas to both benefit from and promote local economic development initiatives.
